This Is How You Know You’re In Love With The Right Person

I once heard a quote that went along the lines of ‘when you love someone just because you do’ and it has carved a place inside of my heart ever since. What a lovely thing to be—to be in love with someone simply because of the kind of person they are. To fall in love with the most incredible amount of softness without feeling the need to understand the why’s or the how’s. I think that is how you know you are in love: when you genuinely feel completely at peace. When there are no worries and no concerns. When there are no games being played or hearts being messed with for the sake of achieving the title of who can act like they don’t care for longer.

When you are in love with another person, you will just know; you will know because the most vulnerable parts of your soul will feel safe and at home. The edges of your ribcage will slowly loosen its tight grip against your heart, and the walls you had carefully built up for so long will begin to soften. You will know you are in love because the concept of time will just completely melt away, every second and minute and hour intertwining together like pieces of a puzzle. You will feel genuine ease—your stomach won’t fill with anxiety if they don’t respond straight away or you won’t be left with multiple ‘what if’s’ when they go out with their friends. And even if you do, even if at first you are hesitant because of the ways in which the ghosts of previous hearts messily handled your own, you will have the reassurance. You will have the communication and the conversations and the same sort of respect you passionately show others.

And what a beautiful thing it is, to innocently fall in love with another soul for no other reason than the fact they are simply existing right here with you in this beautifully carved out moment created by two souls who ruthlessly chose one another.
