How To Celebrate Your Breakup

The initial onset of a breakup sucks. Whether you have known that the relationship has been over for a while or not, it doesn’t lessen the sting. However, once you turn over a new leaf, you are ready to celebrate.

We are finally out of a pandemic and in a time where every life moment is worth celebrating. We celebrate engagements, so why not celebrate getting out of a toxic relationship that your friends (and maybe even your family) encouraged you to leave?

Regardless of your emotions, whether you are sad or happy to be out of that relationship, think outside of a traditional party and get creative! You have a valid reason to throw shade at your ex and what better way than to throw a party?

Ideas On How To Throw The Best Breakup Party

Time to mark this milestone in your life! But how do we throw a party that not everyone would celebrate?

1. Invite Your Besties

Okay, so you’ve had time to recover from your breakup and you’re ready to celebrate, but who are you inviting?

You have those that helped you get through that tough relationship, but some of those friends might’ve sided with your ex. Obviously, we can’t add them to the list. Also, make sure there isn’t anyone there to start the rumor wheel. You said goodbye to that drama for a reason.

There will be people that will share their opinion, don’t let that interfere with your desire to throw a party! Those that don’t agree with this celebration or that may feel uncomfortable have the option to decline your invite, and that’s okay.

Spending time with those that matter is more important than ever. Be sure to surround yourself with a positive environment.

2. Be Creative

Your party can be as tacky or as aesthetically pleasing as you like! It’s all about the details! Have your breakup party at a wine bar or host it in your new apartment! After you have a location, it will be all about the decor!Β

Design the best Instagram-worthy photo backdrop or create a fun cake design that says you’re done and moving on!Β

While most celebrations you want to capture the moment, this one you might not want to as you are letting go of the past and probably don’t want it posted all over social media. Or maybe you do. In that case, it will need to be picture-perfect!

This is a very non-traditional party, so make the decorations as extra as you are! Create a stunning backdrop that your besties will absolutely love!

Maybe you’re not feeling so vibrant over the occasion. No worriesβ€”go with a moody backdrop to match those feelings.

3. Plan Activities… Or Don’t

We’ve all been there, attending an event when the awkward games come out and you just want to crawl under the table. Don’t throw that party. Your celebration doesn’t need to have activities.Β

Understandably, entertaining might be in your blood, and as a good host, you feel the need for a good activity. So, choose something that isn’t so cringy.Β

Host a painting picnic party for art in your new place or a backyard boy-BYE BBQ to celebrate the end of that relationship. Or maybe it’s time for some self-care! Hire out a masseuse or spa service to give you and the other girlies a new luxe look.Β

Set the scene! With different party ideas, like a boho picnic, you can’t forget the decor.

4. Don’t Forget The Cake!

You’re probably on that breakup diet, but a celebration calls for cake and everyone loves a sweet treat! Make an adios cake with an image or saying that lets everyone know how single you are!Β

Have your party catered! Who wants to think about planning a party when you already have a lot on your mind? Hire a local event planner that can take care of those details.Β

Instead of a big cake, you could have individual cupcakes, custom cookies, or cake pops!

Thank You, Next

Now it’s time for the next chapter in your life. And when the time comes, it will be worth celebrating that next milestone. Whether it is a planned or an unplanned life event, I hope the above has inspired you to throw a party!

With a little planning and creative thinking, you will be able to throw an amazing breakup party.
