6 Budget Holistic Beauty Tips For Skincare Addicts
I always associated holistic wellness with dollar signs. But over the recent years, I have picked up on a tip or two that will make your holistic journey cost you less money and result in more happiness.
Firstly, what is holistic beauty and why do we need it? Well, if you are a skincare and beauty addict like me, you are invested in making sure that your skin has that healthy glow all year round. What holistic beauty means is that you approach your beauty routine with a well-rounded mindset—so that means mind, body, and soul. Believe it or not, there are less expensive ways to do so.
1. Hydrate
We hear it all the time: “Drink more water.” It is true to a certain extent. Keeping yourself hydrated does positively impact your skin, as well as keeps those dark rings around your eyes at bay. So less scary panda and more glowing goddess.
2. Get Enough Sleep
Making sure that you get a healthy amount of sleep every night is also a big step towards holistic beauty. Some people don’t need eight hours every night, and some people need to be asleep at a specific time to ensure optimal restfulness. A simple way to help with this is to download one of the many free sleep apps available on the app store. It will track your sleep cycle and give you insight into how to better your sleep routine.
3. Get Those Endorphin Hits
Exercise is yet another way to benefit your skin. Exercise releases endorphins and results in better mental health. Exercise can also make you feel stronger and more confident in your own skin—this way your mental health gets better and so does your self-esteem. A little confidence goes a long way…
4. Meditate the Stress Away
I know that meditation can seem overwhelming if you are a beginner, but start out small. Meditation really is a muscle that needs to be trained. Start out with a few minutes just focusing on your breathing and work your way up. You will get distracted and that is okay, be gentle with yourself. If you are a beginner I also highly recommend doing a guided meditation off Youtube or one of the many apps like Calm or Headspace.
5. Get Yourself a Good Prebiotic and Probiotic
An unbalanced gut is actually a leading cause of acne or dull skin, which is why it is so important to get yourself reliable supplements. It is worth the investment and actually good gut health also leads to better mental health.
6. Nourish Your Body to Nourish the Soul
Eating healthily is also crucial in order to look after your skin. I am not suggesting anything drastic like cutting out carbs or sugar, but taking note of what goes into your body can go a long way towards taking care of you and your skin. You do not have to go full vegan.
BONUS: Pay attention to the ingredients that are in your hair care products, makeup, and skincare. If there are harmful chemicals in any of the products that go onto your body, they can negatively impact you and your overall health. The trick is to be mindful of all products that you use, not just your skincare products.
Here is to being the best holistic you!
